They say by the time you’re 16, you’ll already have met your future spouse. But with these two… it was more like five. Seriously… it’s just not often that you go to Kindergarten with your future spouse!? These two may have started off sharing crayons, but now they’re sharing a last name. ?
However, Katie & Dalton may not have started “dating” in Kindergarten class… but by 8th grade, Dalton had officially sealed the deal on Valentine’s Day with a teddy bear decked out in his baseball necklace and a box of chocolates. Game over.
Or so he thought… ?
She gave the necklace back the next day at school, bc ya know. She had other things to worry about. ? But Dalton was persistent. (Perseverance for the win my man!)
His endless pursuit of her heart eventually had her smitten, and by 9th grade, she was all in. They’ve remained together ever since, and are now seniors in college. It’s wild how God orders our steps and truly takes care of every single thing.
THE PROPOSAL:
Katie was attending a photography workshop in Fayetteville, and Dalton had, (unbeknownst to Katie) gotten in touch with the photographer that was hosting to ask if he could do a surprise proposal. ??
She agreed, so he drove all the way there and showed up in between the styled shoots, surprised her with a ring, and got the photographer and her videographer to capture it all. (He’s really always done the most for her!!)
THE WEDDING:
Katie & Dalton had originally planned a large traditional wedding in Magnolia, but amidst all the mess of 2020, they decided on a smaller, more intimate approach to nuptials. They found a GORGEOUS Airbnb for their Miramar beach wedding, and decided to bring just their closest friends and family. (It’s really the best decision, I’m so pumped they went this route!)
One of my favorite parts from their day, was when it started raining during their ceremony on the beach.
Why? I know that sounds a bit wild… but as a Christian, rain is a pretty big deal to us. Rain actually symbolizes blessings in the bible. But the wilder part, was as SOON as they concluded their “I do’s,” the rain stopped, the clouds parted, and we had one of the most beautiful sunsets.
As a photographer, Katie knows light, and it was important to her that they saw a sunset that day. (What bride doesn’t want golden, honey-dripping photos with their man on the beach at their wedding!?)
And God knew that. He cared about the desire of her heart, and He made it happen at the perfect time. ✨
After their honeymoon to Islamorada in the Florida Keys, they packed their bags and moved to Fort Worth, Texas for Dalton to attend seminary school, (he’s a youth pastor.) And like I said, Katie is a photographer, (you can peep her insta here,) — so she’ll be growing her business there as well!
They also have a Cavapoo named “Quincy” which you’ll meet in these photos. Wait ’till you see his perfect posing during the ceremony. It’s my fav. ? (Oh, he also has an insta… and yes, you should follow it here.)
Alright, enough chatting. Let’s look at the GORGEOUSNESS from this Miramar Beach wedding day!
