One beautiful spring day in April, I had the joy of photographing Sydnee and Tate’s romantic Tree Haven wedding in Simms, Texas. Their celebration brought together colorful spring florals, rustic Southern details, live music, and more than a few cowboy hats. 🤠
Tree Haven gave them the perfect setting for a wedding filled with personality. The towering trees created a quiet and romantic atmosphere. Meanwhile, the venue’s rustic details reflected Sydnee and Tate’s Southern style.
They both come from the Broken Bow area, so the surrounding countryside felt like a natural fit. Even the cattle in the background added the perfect touch to their portraits!
A Colorful Spring Wedding at Tree Haven
Sydnee chose a beautiful pastel color palette for the wedding. Her florals included nearly every soft spring shade you could imagine.
As soon as I saw the team from Jennifer’s Designs setting up that morning, I knew the day would photograph beautifully. The colors brought so much life to the venue while still feeling soft, elegant, and romantic.
The bridesmaids wore dresses from Birdy Grey, which complemented the floral designs perfectly. Sydnee wore a stunning gown from Gracyn Elizabeth Bride, while Tate and his groomsmen wore attire from GEB Menswear.
Every detail felt cohesive. However, nothing felt overly styled or forced. The entire design reflected the couple and their relaxed Southern personalities.
A Romantic Ceremony in Tree Haven’s Glass Chapel
Sydnee and Tate held their ceremony inside Tree Haven’s newly added glass chapel.
The chapel’s large windows allowed the surrounding trees to become part of the ceremony backdrop. At the same time, the pastel floral arrangements added color throughout the space.
The result felt intimate, bright, and incredibly romantic.
As a wedding photographer, I love ceremony spaces that offer beautiful natural light. The glass chapel created a soft glow around Sydnee and Tate as they exchanged vows. It also allowed me to photograph the emotion of the ceremony without distracting from the moment.
Afterward, we used the venue’s open fields, trees, and rustic scenery for their newlywed portraits. The cattle in the distance made a surprise appearance and added even more charm to the gallery.
Live Music and a Nashville-Inspired Reception
After the ceremony, guests made their way to the reception area for dinner, toasts, and live music.
David Oakleaf & The Open Road Band traveled from Nashville, Tennessee, and brought the perfect energy to the celebration. As dinner from Main Street Cafe & Catering was served, the band created a fun and welcoming atmosphere.
Later, the sun went down on my side of town. 😉 String lights glowed above the dance floor, and the band picked up the beat.
Within a few strums of the steel guitar, hair was flying, boots were scootin’, and everyone was dancing.
Sydnee and Tate both love to dance, and their friends clearly do too. The dance floor stayed full as everyone celebrated the newlyweds.
A Mechanical Bull at the Wedding Reception
Then came one of the most memorable reception moments I have ever photographed.
Everyone rushed outside to take turns riding a mechanical bull. Even Sydnee and Tate joined in!
Watching a bride climb onto a mechanical bull in her wedding dress will forever remain a highlight of my photography career. 🐂
The moment felt fun, unexpected, and completely true to the couple. Those are often the moments that make a wedding gallery feel personal. Of course, the portraits and details matter. However, the spontaneous memories often tell the story best.
Rustic Simms, Texas Wedding Photography
As a destination wedding photographer, I have photographed celebrations in many beautiful places. Still, Sydnee and Tate’s Tree Haven wedding will always hold a special place in my heart.
The combination of rustic elegance, colorful spring details, and genuine joy created an unforgettable atmosphere.
Throughout the day, I focused on more than the major events. I also photographed the quick smiles, emotional reactions, dance-floor chaos, and quiet moments between Sydnee and Tate.
My goal is always to create a gallery that feels elevated and timeless while still showing what the wedding day truly felt like.
